These Terms & Conditions outline the general guidelines for renting a motorbike or scooter from Bike Rental Ceylon. By proceeding with a booking, payment, or rental, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to comply with the terms stated below.
1. Rental Eligibility
All rentals are subject to verification of valid identification and applicable driving licence requirements.
Riders must meet the minimum legal requirements to operate a motorbike or scooter in Sri Lanka, including:
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Valid passport
- Valid driving licence acceptable for riding motorbikes or scooters in Sri Lanka
2. Booking & Confirmation
- Reservations are recommended in advance and are subject to availability.
- A booking is considered confirmed only after direct communication and acknowledgement from Bike Rental Ceylon.
- Specific rental details, including rental duration, pricing, security deposit, insurance options, and applicable conditions, will be clearly communicated prior to final confirmation.
3. Security Deposit
- A compulsory refundable security deposit of LKR 10,000 is required at the commencement of the rental period.
- The security deposit will be refunded upon return of the motorbike/scooter at the end of the rental period, subject to inspection and compliance with these Terms & Conditions.
4. Bikes Inspection & Fuel Policy
- Renters are strongly advised to carefully inspect the motorbike/scooter before accepting it.
- Renters should not accept the vehicle if it is not in satisfactory running condition.
- Bikes and Scooters are not provided with a full fuel tank. One litre of fuel is included to allow travel to the nearest fuel station.
- No refunds will be provided for any unused fuel remaining in the tank at the time of return.
5. Usage & Renter Responsibility
- Rented motorbikes/scooters must be used responsibly and strictly in accordance with Sri Lankan traffic laws and regulations.
- The renter is fully responsible for the motorbike/scooter during the rental period and must immediately inform Bike Rental Ceylon of any issues, faults, damages, accidents, or incidents.
6. Maintenance & Mechanical Responsibilities
- It is compulsory to check the engine oil level every 500 km or weekly (every Sunday), whichever comes first, and refill if the level is below the recommended mark.
- The renter must immediately inform us of any engine oil leakage.
- The renter is responsible for identifying, reporting, and promptly fixing any mechanical issues, including but not limited to:
- Brake adjustments when braking efficiency reduces
- Drive chain adjustment and lubrication
- Any accidents or damages caused due to failure to attend to known faults will be the sole responsibility of the renter.
7. Scheduled Full Maintenance
- It is compulsory to inform Bike Rental Ceylon upon completion of every 3,000 km for a FREE full maintenance service, including engine oil change.
- We will recommend an authorised service centre closer to the renter’s location and bear the full service cost.
8. Breakdowns
- In the event of a breakdown, the renter must:
- Inform Bike Rental Ceylon immediately
- Take the motorbike/scooter to the nearest garage for repairs
- Provide valid repair bills for reimbursement consideration
- Rental charges remain payable for all days until the vehicle is repaired.
- Any transportation costs incurred in taking the motorbike/scooter to a service station shall be borne by the renter.
9. Accidents & Damages
Minor Accidents or Minor Damages
- The renter must inform us immediately and provide clear photographs of the damage.
- Repair costs will be communicated after consultation with our mechanics.
- Repair costs will be deducted from the refundable security deposit.
- All damaged parts must be replaced with genuine spare parts only.
- The use of reconditioned parts, glue, tape, or fibreglass repairs is strictly prohibited.
- Rental charges apply for garage days until repairs are completed.
Major Accidents or Major Damages
- The renter must inform us immediately and provide photographs of the damage.
- Repair costs will be communicated after consultation with our mechanics.
- The renter may choose to:
- Cover the repair cost using the security deposit with additional payment if required, or
- Claim repairs through insurance if covered under the policy
- Repairs handled directly by Bike Rental Ceylon are generally faster, more cost-effective, and recommended.
- The use of reconditioned parts or temporary repair methods is not accepted.
- Rental charges apply for garage days until repairs are completed.
10. Insurance
- All rentals include standard motor insurance coverage.
- Optional insurance upgrades may be available upon request.
- Coverage details, exclusions, and limitations will be clearly explained before finalising the rental.
11. Rental Extension
- If the renter wishes to extend the rental period, they must inform Bike Rental Ceylon before the rental expiry date.
- Extensions are subject to availability and confirmation by Bike Rental Ceylon.
- Full payment for extension days must be made on or before the original rental expiry date.
12. Additional Conditions
Depending on the nature of the rental, documentation provided, insurance selection, or rental duration, additional conditions may apply.
Any such conditions will be:
- Clearly explained
- Communicated in advance
- Confirmed before the rental begins
